Take Girls Seriously
Our ideas are valid, our actions are true, and our capabilities should never be underestimated.
Introducing our Wish Bra hand-dyed with all-natural Cochineal and Madder Root. Part of our new collection of all-natural, hand-dyed products completed in limited batches by Ellen Stryker.
Our Wish Bra is built for girls who are a bit more developed. The Wish offers soft space and shearing while also adding definition without the use of underwires or padding. With an elastic torso band and a u-shaped back, the Wish bra is just as pretty as it is functional. While we like to say this bra was made for older girls, its technical design still makes it an awesome choice for any stage of development.
Madder root -orange.Rubia cordifolia.Playfully hand-dyed with Indian madder root. Madder grows wild throughout India, southeast Asia, Europe, Africa, and Japan. Its roots have been used in Ayurvedic medicine for more than 3000 years, tying into mind-body-spirit wellness. It has also been used in traditional Tibetan medicine to redistribute heat in the body for various blood disorders. Its tones range from oranges and reds, to pinks and browns, depending on the pH balance and temperature of the dye pot.
Cochineal - pink.Dactylopius coccus. This dye is a fun one because it’s extracted from insects. They love to live inside of the prickly pear cactus, native to Mexico and South and Central Americas. Ellen sources her insects from Peru as whole, dried bugs. They yield beautiful fuchsias, purples, and reds, depending on the pH balance of the dye bath.
Care for Cochineal + Madder Root bras: Natural dyes will fade with excessive wash and light exposure, so hand wash when possible, or wash sparingly. Lay flat to dry and store out of direct sunlight.
Ellen Stryker Bischoff is a printmaker based out of Northern Vermont and Western Wyoming. Her largest source of inspiration in life is nature. After graduating college with a degree in Art and Art History, she taught herself how to bridge the gap between her work and the natural world. Dyeing first with indigo, Ellen has now expanded into an entire world of other colors and dyestuff. Natural dyeing has brought so much wonder, excitement, and purpose for Ellen, and you can follow her journey at @ellenstryker.art
I've been ordering from Yellowberry for two years and never been disappointed. It's the only brand my daughter has ever worn. We've tried so many different styles and the Wish bra is one of her favorites. I wish they came in adult sizes for me!
My daughter has narrow shoulders, and this just fit her awkwardly. This is our 3rd year ordering and least favorite fit.
My daughter tried several bras and this one just had a weird fit - we returned, but kept the Lily bra, which she loved.
This was the first bra my 11 year old has liked. She has tried others… in the end defaulting to sports bras because nothing fit well or was comfortable. She has asked me to order more which is a big win.
My 13 year old daughter loves how comfortable they are. She has no problems ever with there fit. These are truly amazing bras and modestly is a important part I am teaching my daughter and these bras offer that to a little girl that is finding her wings in life. Thank you kathy h
